Celebrating Peru's Independence Day

Last week I attended Perú’s independence day celebrations at a special event here in Mendoza, Argentina. The event was held in the Hotel Aconcagua, hosted by the Peruvian Consul General, Nelson Ortiz Argumedo. It was a wonderful event, and great to see some Peruvian traditionals. In our Lima offices, we were also celebrating, with traditional food and drinks, as well as a Peruvian dance show.

Here at Belatrix, Perú has a special place in our hearts. A few years ago, when we decided to expand internationally, Perú was a top choice because of its fast-growing, steady economy. It’s also a country which is producing excellent technical talent via its universities and technical colleges. Today, our development center in Lima has become our largest center, with 310 people working here, overtaking Mendoza; and we have plans to continue growing – we’ll be announcing the launch of a new floor in our Lima offices in the coming weeks.

The hackathons that we hold in Lima have been repeated successes, with hundreds of software developers taking part. This reflects the entrepreneurial spirit that we see in Perú. This year, the hackathon was focused on creating fintech prototypes, and we saw teams demonstrating their expertise in the latest technologies, including machine learning, bots, blockchain, and digital platforms.

It’s now only 3 years until Perú’s 200th anniversary in 2021. I’ll be looking forward to these celebrations in the coming years, as we hope to continue strengthening the ties between Argentina and Perú.
