Worldwide Code Retreat gathers over 2,000 software engineers to strut their innovate skills
Belatrix Software, a leading software innovation provider, announced today its participation in the 2013 Global Day of Code Retreat, a worldwide event where agile software engineers meet to push their coding and testing skills to the limits. The event will happen on December 14, 2013.
With over 150 cities worldwide simultaneously taking part in the event, the Global Day of Code Retreat is something developers look forward to each year. In South America, just three cities will participate in the Coding-Dojo type event. Two include Lima, Peru and Mendoza, Argentina, and both will be hosted by Belatrix Software.
Using Test Driven Development (TDD) participating engineers will work in groups to solve Conway’s Game of Life simulation. The agenda puts engineers under pressure. It consists of short 45-minute sprints, followed by 15-minute retrospectives. Participants can opt to change teams which fuels other challenges as teams learn how to collaborate efficiently. At the conclusion of the event, developer teams de-construct their work – a somewhat shocking move given how rigorous an effort it took to build the solution. Doing it this way though opens up an entire new range of possibilities with the start of the next year’s Code Retreat. This is perhaps a metaphor for life, and being open to a fresh new set of opportunities and ideas. Code Retreat’s objective is not merely to come up with a specific solution but rather to learn the process. That process has lots of great lessons in terms of focus and innovating under extreme constraints
“We’re very happy to open Belatrix’s doors to this vibrant developer community. Code Retreat is an ambitious program. Its mission, to support and grow engineering communities, is something we firmly embrace and share,” shared Federico Robbio, Co-Founder of Belatrix Software.
The event is open to the software engineering community, It has already generated significant interest among testers and developers in both countries. Click the following link if you’d like to save your spot: http://coderetreat-mendoza-2013.eventbrite.com/
